In May 2007, voters in Ada and Canyon counties passed a referendum creating a community college district. The resulting institution of higher learning, College of Western Idaho (CWI), will change southwestern Idaho’s higher education landscape and open educational doors for many. At this forum, CWI’s trustees and president will brief City Club on their plans and progress, answer questions and seek input.

Jerry Hess, Chair, Trustees of CWI, has served on the Idaho State Board of Education and the University of Idaho Board of Regents.

Hatch Barrett, Trustee, is president/CEO of Trebar Inc.

Mark Dunham, Trustee, is vice president of the Idaho Association of Commerce & Industry (IACI).

Guy Hurlbutt, Trustee, is a retired vice president of Boise Cascade Corp. and adjunct professor in the Northwest Nazarene University Business School. He chairs the Idaho Business Coalition for Education Excellence (IBCEE).

M.C. Niland, Trustee, is president/CEO of WITCO (Western Idaho Training Company, Inc.). She has served on the Idaho State Council on Developmental Disabilities and the Idaho Task Force on Community Supported Employment.

Dennis Griffin, Interim President, College of Western Idaho, has taught and worked as an administrator for 37 years in private- and public-sector secondary and higher education in two states.
