As Yogi Berra would have put it, the 2010 edition of the Idaho Legislature could be a case of “déjà vu all over again.” With the state and national economies still in the doldrums and state tax receipts shrinking, the 105 state legislators who convene Jan. 11 will find themselves again struggling to balance budgets and avoid making deeper cuts to state programs. At least they’ll have a spiffy new Statehouse in which to deliberate.
Join us on January 13, 2010, for a continuation of a City Club tradition: our annual Pundits Forum. You’ll hear the inside scoop on the Idaho Legislative session, with perhaps a little political forecasting thrown in.
Betsy Z. Russell, the long-time Spokesman-Review political reporter, will be back this year, as will veteran Idaho Statesman political reporter and columnist Dan Popkey. They will be joined by Steve Ahrens, once an Idaho Statesman reporter and political columnist himself, more recently president of the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, and currently a columnist for the Idaho Business Review. The panelists will be eager to take your questions.
This forum always sells out fast. Don’t miss it: politics and punditry – City Club style.
Chair: Marc Johnson
