CITY CLUB SALON
Trey McIntyre Project: Why Boise?

Wednesday, February 3, 2010, 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
The Grove Hotel

Speaker:

John Michael Schert
Executive Director and dancer, Trey McIntyre Project (TMP)

When one of the nation’s most innovative choreographers, Trey McIntyre, chose Boise as home base for his new dance company in 2008, folks on both sides of the footlights said, “Huh?!?” Two years later, company members and audiences alike are shouting, “Bravo!”

This salon is an opportunity to see Boise through the eyes of artist/entrepreneur John Michael Schert, co-founder with Trey of the Trey McIntyre Project (TMP). Schert has performed with companies and choreographers across the country, and his flair for the unexpected is evident in TMP’s exciting and successful approach to marketing. Under his leadership, this fall TMP initiated an Artists-in-Residency program for patients at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center “dancing in hallways and at bedsides,” and introduced Treasure Valley high school students to the life-changing focus, precision and power of dance.

TMP began in 2004 as a summer troupe producing work created by choreographer Trey McIntyre, known for infusing ballet’s classical inheritance with freshness, vitality and depth. In 2008, TMP launched as a full-time contemporary ballet company, touring in the United States and abroad. (For more about Trey McIntyre Project visit www.treymcintyre.com.)
