This month, Basques from across the world will come to Boise for Jaialdi. Boise also welcomes La Liga's Athletic Club de Bilbao for a professional friendly soccer match with Liga MX's Club Tijuana. But Boise's ties to the Basque community-- and the Basque community's ties to Boise-- transcend celebration and soccer. How did the Basque community come to Boise? What does the future hold? And what is the significance of Jaialdi? Join City Club for an insider's view of Boise's Basque community. John Bieter and John Ysursa will share their insights about the Basque community's heritage, and the times ahead. John Bieter is a co-founder and professor in the Basque Studies program as well as a professor in the History Department at Boise State University, and co-authored An Enduring Legacy: A History of the Basques in Idaho.  John Ysursa is Director of the Basque Studies Consortium at Boise State, as well as managing editor of one of Boise State's first online academic journals,BOGA: A Basque Studies Consortium Journal.
