The Idaho Supreme Court is the highest court in the state and the final work on the laws of Idaho - our "court of last resort." Five justices sit on the Court, which issued over 100 opinions in 2015 and more than 40 so far in 2016, on a wide variety of issues including appeals of criminal maters, employment law disputes, planning and zoning appeals, family law disputes involving child custody, worker's compensations claims and contract disputes. In addition, the Court is responsible for superivsing and administering the state court system, including the trial courts and the Court of Appeals. On May 17, voters will decide among the four candidates vying to fill the seat of retiring Chief Justice Jones; the winner will serve a six year term on the bench. The candidates are:
  • Robyn Brody, Rupert attorney
  • Sergio Gutierrez, Court of Appeals Judge
  • Curt McKenzie, Senator (R-Nampa)
  • Clive Strong, Deputy Attorney General
In this forum, you will hear from each candiate looking to fill the seat and have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates.
