Tour: Stibnite Gold Project

This tour of the Stibnite Gold Project follows the engaging City Club of Boise Evening Conversation,Mining at the Headwaters of the Salmon River that was held April 9th with Laurel Sayer, CEO of Midas Gold Idaho and Justin Hayes, Program Director for the Idaho Conservation League.

 


 

City Club of Boise Members have the opportunity to tour the Stibnite Gold Project.

 

On the tour, we’ll visit the historic Stibnite Mining District and discuss its role in one of Idaho’s most important industries. We’ll see the former Stibnite town site and observe legacy features of the Stibnite Mine that are still visible today including the Yellow Pine Pit, the former Meadow Creek Mine and mill site, and associated tailings and heap leach facilities. At each of these stops, you will hear the history of the site and see the legacies that have been left behind. Representatives of Midas Gold will be on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding the proposed Stibnite Gold Project.

 

This tour will cover regional geology, historic mining practices, current site conditions and Midas Golds plans for the Stibnite Gold Project.

    Details: : The tour will depart 7:45AM from the Donnelly office and 8:00AM from The Ashley Inn in Cascade. Midas Gold will provide transportation to the Stibnite site and back to the hotel. We will drive Warm Lake Road-Johnson Creek Road to Yellow Pine for lunch at The Corner Restaurant. The tour will take approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours. Scheduled return to the Ashley Inn is approximately 4:30 pm.

    Tour Details:

     

    When: Friday, August 16th 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

    Where: Stibnite site. Tour starts at Ashley Inn Cascade, 500 North Main Street, Cascade ID 83611

  • If people are staying in McCall/Donnelly it is easiest to meet at our Midas Gold Office off of Hwy 55 at 7:30 am
  • DEPART: 7:45AM from the Donnelly office and 8AM from The Ashley Inn in Cascade
  • Cost: $15 for CCOB members and $20 for non-members

     

    What to wear/bring:
  • Sturdy shoes (close toed, no sandals or flip-flops), long pants and sleeved shirts (No sleeveless shirts).
  • A safety briefing and PPE (hard hats, high-visibility vests and safety glasses) will be provided.
  • We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses for the tour.

    Pre-registration is requested, by 4 PM on Tuesday, August 13th. This event is limited to 20 attendees. As a City Club of Boise Member-Only Tour, Members are allowed to bring one guest, space permitting.
