The City Club sponsors occasional small discussion groups called ‘salons’ at a person’s home or another location. Salons allow members (and sometimes one guest) to discuss a topic with a speaker in a more intimate setting than a forum. Salons typically cost around $65, and include refreshments or a meal. They are for members only, but members can sometimes bring one guest.
Topics have included: Post-Legislative Salon, the role of philanthropy, health care reform, and the nexus between religion and politics.
The City Club also sponsors tours of interesting buildings, businesses, and governmental entities around the Treasure Valley. Tours are also open to members only, with one guest. They typically cost around $15. Tours are for members only, but members can sometimes bring one guest.
Past tours have included the restored Capitol building, the new branch library in west Boise, Gowen Field, Lucky Peak Dam and the “skinny” condominiums on Front Street.
