About the Event

The Future of the (Idaho) Republican Party

An Evening Conversation with Senator Chuck Winder and former Congressman Raul Labrador

Has the Republican Party changed from the days of George H. W. Bush and Phil Batt? What does the future of the National and Idaho State Republican Party look like? Will it look more like the Grand Old Party of past years, or like the Idaho Freedom Foundation Party and the Party of Trump? Or are these the same?

City Club of Boise will host an Evening Conversation with two prominent Idaho Republicans, Senate President Pro Tempore Chuck Winder and former Idaho State and US Congressman Raul Labrador. The topic will be the Future of the (Idaho) Republican Party.

This Evening Conversation will be held in the large Osher classroom in the Boise State Yanke Building at 220 Parkcenter Blvd. The In-person audience will be limited to 25 people. The program will also be livestreamed to virtual attendees.

Masks will be required.

Moderator: City Club of Boise programs committee member Jen Schneider, Interim Associate Dean, Boise State's School of Public Service.

Raúl Labrador previously served as a U.S. Representative for Idaho's 1st congressional district from 2011 to 2019, represented District 14B in the Idaho House of Representatives from 2006 to 2010, and was the chair of the Idaho Republican Party. He is currently serving on the Central District Board of Health and is an attorney in private practice.

Senator Chuck Winder was first elected to the Idaho State Senate in 2008. In 2010 he was re-elected to represent District 14 and elected by his colleagues to serve as Senate Assistant Majority Leader.  He served in that role until January 2018 when he was elected Idaho’s Senate Majority Leader. Since the 2012 redistricting, Senator Winder has represented legislative district 20.  He is currently a member of the Senate Education, Transportation, and State Affairs committees
