Tour: New Ronald McDonald House
Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019, 4:00pm-5:30pm
Ronald McDonald House, 101 E Warm Springs Ave, Boise, ID 83712
The very first Ronald McDonald House opened in Philadelphia in 1974. Since then, over 365 Houses and other programs have been opened around the world in more than 43 countries and regions, each an independent Chapter that is run locally, but all with a common mission of providing a welcoming, comfortable environment for families during a very difficult time in their lives.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho (RMHC of Idaho) opened the Idaho Ronald McDonald House on February 1, 1988 with 4 bedrooms and it was the smallest Ronald McDonald House in the world. Over 31 years later, RMHC of Idaho now operates a 17-room Ronald McDonald House in Boise, a Ronald McDonald Family Room in Idaho Falls at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, plus two Happy Wheels Hospitality Carts in Boise and one in Twin Falls. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho is run by a statewide board and raises and spends all funds for its programs locally across the state through donations and signature fundraising events.

Over the last several years, demand for RMHC of Idaho’s support at the Ronald McDonald House has increasingly exceeded its capacity, which means more and more families who hope to stay at the House are turned away because it’s full. That’s why we’re building a new Ronald McDonald House. Designed by Cole Architects and built by Engineered Structures, Inc. (ESI), the expanded House will be 40,000 square feet dedicated to helping more than three times the number of families we currently serve. Included in the design are 47 guest rooms to help more families stay together, a private day room for families with children receiving outpatient care, and a larger kitchen, pantry and dining room, all to take the pressure of cooking and grocery shopping off of our families.
