Boise State University’s Albertsons Library was one of 50 libraries selected in 2019 to host the Americans and the Holocaust exhibit, a traveling exhibit from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum located in Washington D.C. The exhibit will be on display from March 22 through April 26, 2013.
Americans and the Holocaust examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped Americans'' responses to Nazism, war and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s. The exhibition challenges the commonly held assumptions that Americans knew little, and did nothing about the Nazi persecution and murder of the Jews as the Holocaust unfolded.
This exhibit addresses important themes in American history, exploring many factors including the Great Depression, isolationism, xenophobia, racism and antisemitism - which influenced decisions made by the U.S. government, the news media, organizations and individuals as they responded to Nazism.
Join us for a presentation by Dr. David Walker of BSU's History Department, as he discusses "Germany Calling: What Americans Heard Over the Airwaves," on Thursday, March 30th at 6:00 p.m. at BSU's Albertsons Library. Afterward, attendees are invited to take a self-guided tour of the Exhibit.
Dr. Walker's specialties in history include U.S. Military History, Global War World II, U.S. Foreign Relations and many other topics related to global conflicts.
Dr. Walker received a BA in History at Seattle University and his MA and PhD from The George Washington University.
